WHAT YOU WILL HEAR

Our guest for today’s episode of On The Other Side is Pastor Charles Mugisha. Pastor Charles is the founder of Africa New Life, an organization that sponsors children pursuing education in Rwanda. In this episode, he talks with us about being on the other side of the Rwanda Genocide.

Pastor Charles was born to a Rwandan family who were living in Uganda as refugees that fled their country after the first genocide in 1959. Years later, after attending college and going into ministry, the 1994 genocide happened, killing one million people in just 90 days. In 1995, once Charles discovered that his father returned to Rwanda, he found himself following behind and facing his home country for the first time. He shares about the horror of coming face to face with the aftermath of the genocide, the mixed feelings he felt returning to his country, and going to a place that seemed completely hopeless. He also opens up about the supernatural forgiveness that overcame the nation, and how he and the people of Rwanda never expected to see their country redeemed in the way that it is today. He says with full confidence “God is redemptive. He has actually redeemed this country. You can see redemption everywhere.” We were blown away by Pastor Charles’ story, and how God’s redemption of Rwanda is such a beautiful example of the Gospel.
